Now, you may be thinking, why has she set up yet another blog? Or more importantly, why is she talking about all that mummy stuff rather than what she's actually good at, interiors? Lets be truthful, parenting probably isn't my strong point.
Well, I've been sharing my little life over on Instagram for a few years now with over 55,000 followers who up until recently mainly knew my house rather than myself & my family. That was until Instagram came up with the genius idea (or complete snapchat rip off, which ever way you want to look at it...) of Instagram stories.
Instagram stories is basically short videos or photos that you upload on to your Instagram account for followers to view, but the catch is that these only stay uploaded for 24 hours. After this, they vanish forever.
I loved the idea so started using it regularly to show glimpses of my world & day to day life. Not so much the beautiful home that surrounds me which everyone goes wild for, but more the real life of being a wife & mother of two delightful little people. This would include hilarious tantrums from my 3 year old, being used as a human climbing frame by my 18 month old & my normally immaculate house resembling that of a crack addicts.
The several occasions that I have braved blogging about personal issues seem to go down really well & the messages of support I've received for saying things that aren't all too socially acceptable to admit have been overwhelming.
Anybody that knows me in real life will agree that I speak my mind & say it as it is. I also have quite a dry sense of humour & tend to swear a bit too much hence keeping this blog separately from the 'brand' I've built up on The Home That Made Me.
Despite reading several blogs ranging from the fellow interior obsessed to parenting & even fashion, I haven't yet come across a blog that gives readers a chance to input & confess those quirky (& sometimes quite frankly shit) moments that motherhood springs at us.
Sure blogs like The Unmumsy Mum or Hurrah For Gin (which I'm massive fans of!) express those 'FML' moments that I for one experience a thousand times a day & I'm pretty sure all mothers can relate to, but my plan for this blog is to make it ALL OF YOURS.
What is 'Confessions Of A Bad Mother' going to be?
Every Monday I'm going to post one subject or theme here with a brief explanation along with inviting you all to email me anonymously or post a comment on the post with your views/opinions/funny stories & basically any input you'd like (although any negativity will be ignored).
On the Friday I'm then going to round these all up & publish those laugh until you wee (come on, we've all had babies....) or 'you aren't alone in this'.
Lastly, I know that putting myself out there rather than my home (which is pretty hard to criticise, I don't really give a shit if you don't like my lamp) I'm opening myself up for criticism, even in the title of this blog as referring to myself as a 'Bad Mother'. If you're part of the easily offended 'perfect' mum brigade then this probably isn't the blog for you. Sorry!
Love,
